My Ear Providers Give Former Pro Athletes Hearing Aids at NFLPA Health Fair
My Ear provided free hearing screenings and hearing aid fittings through EarQ to give former professional football players the care they need.
On October 29, 2021, My Ear attended the NFL Players Association’s Professional Athletes Foundation’s health fair event to provide free screenings and hearing aid fittings to former professional players and their family members. This event was held at the Piston’s Performance Center in Detroit, Michigan.
My Ear worked with EarQ, who has been a partner of the NFL Players Association’s Professional Athletes Foundation (PAF) since 2011. The partnership’s efforts are focused on offering hearing healthcare solutions to former professional players and finding preventative solutions for generations to come.
With events such as this one, EarQ and the NFLPA have the opportunity to emphasize the importance of better hearing and discuss the impact it can have on one’s life. In addition to providing free hearing healthcare services, EarQ also hopes to spread awareness and break down the barriers that prevent people from seeking hearing care.
Bryan Owens and Michael Johnson, two providers from My Ear, fit 11 former professional football players with hearing aids donated from Oticon at the NFL Players Association’s Professional Athletes Foundation’s health fair event. By working with EarQ, My Ear was able to provide free hearing services to former players who needed help with their hearing.
Bryan Owens of My Ear shares why events like these are so important.
“Treating someone’s hearing loss can have a tremendous effect on their quality of life,” he says. “Fitting former professional athletes with hearing aids gives them the opportunity to not only get back the sounds they have been missing, but to reconnect with their loved ones and favorite activities.”
